FAQ: How Much Time Does A Laser Treatment Take?

Laser Therapy treatments may last as little as 5 minutes or as long as 20 minutes.  The total number of treatments is generally 6-20 depending upon many different factors, which will be evaluated by your Physical Therapist.

Most patients see results within 3 to 5 treatment sessions and the treatments have a therapeutic effect continuing for up to 18 hours after treatment.

During your first treatment session, the physical therapist will evaluate your injury or condition and determine which Laser Therapy protocol would be most beneficial. After 4 sessions, or the “induction” phase, the physical therapist will perform a reassessment to evaluate your progression.

The severity of your injury will dictate the next phase of your treatment. For acute injuries, you may only require 2-3 more treatment sessions. For chronic injuries, you may need 6-12 additional treatment sessions. It’s important to remember that the longer you have been experiencing this pain or condition, the more treatment that may be necessary before it becomes fully healed.
