What If The Pain Returns?
It’s not uncommon for injuries or conditions to come back after recovery. In fact, they return more often than you might think. Especially those that you’ve had to deal with for a long period of time.
Typically, most musculoskeletal injuries happen because of an imbalance in the muscle groups responsible for stabilizing that body part. As time goes on, muscles are either used too much or not enough. At that point, they begin to fatigue and are no longer able to function properly.
Physical therapy focuses on joint alignment and movement patterns. They also look at imbalances and limitations in motion as well. They work to help restore movement. This involves treating the body as a whole. Typically, they will use stretches, exercises, and hands-on techniques. Their focus is to get people back to doing the things that they love.
When muscles are no longer providing proper support, pain and injuries happen. At the first sign of your pain or problem returning, the best thing to do is utilize the home exercise program. The primary goal of the home exercise program is to aid your recovery by strengthening specific muscles in a specific order. These exercises play a large role in the progression of recovery from back pain.
Next, take a look at your activities from the past 48 hours. More often than not, pain and inflammation can be traced back to something that happened within the past two days. For instance, you may have cleaned your house from top to bottom. Sometimes something as simple as modifying your daily routine can help reduce your flare-up.
