People typically get their protein from eating vegetables or animals. Most vegetables don’t provide all 8 essential amino acids. Whereas animal sources do. These animal proteins are considered a “complete source” of protein.
Types Of Protein
There are many different types of protein supplements available today. Some are derived from animals. While others come from plant sources. The 2 main types of animal-sourced protein are whey and casein.
Whey Protein
Whey protein is one of the most popular proteins on the market. Many dairy products contain whey protein. In fact, it is a result of the cheese-making process. Whey provides a large number of essential amino acids. It’s especially important for making sure your body functions the best it can.

Casein
Casein is also a complete protein. It’s found in many dairy products, similar to whey. Although it has a different amino acid composition, casein is equally as effective as whey protein.
The Vegan Protein Difference
There are several plant-sourced proteins too. For instance, pea protein. It comes from ground yellow split peas. In fact, it avoids a lot of common allergies. This is perfect for anyone with a restricted diet. Not to mention, peas are an excellent source of nutrients. They are packed with fiber, vitamin K and several amino acids.
